Brentwood Waste Water Treatment Works (WwTW)

Background

JK Fabrications was contracted to undertake a major mechanical replacement programme at Brentwood Waste Water Treatment Works (WwTW).

The project involved the detailed manufacture, supply, delivery, installation, and commissioning of a Picket Fence Thickener alongside a Rectangular Scraper System, forming a key part of the wastewater treatment process upgrade at the Brentwood facility. Designed and fabricated to meet the specific operational requirements of the site, both systems were engineered to enhance sludge handling efficiency, improve process performance, and provide long-term operational reliability. The successful delivery and commissioning of the equipment contributed significantly to optimising the overall effectiveness of the wastewater treatment infrastructure.

Scope of Works

JK Fabrications delivered a complete turnkey solution covering every stage of the works:

  • Detailed design calculations, equipment layout development, structural assessments, fabrication drawings, and coordination with existing site infrastructure to ensure seamless integration
  • All equipment was manufactured within our dedicated fabrication facility using high-quality materials and industry-leading manufacturing processes. Rigorous quality control procedures were implemented throughout production to ensure compliance with project specifications
  • The completed equipment was carefully prepared for transportation and delivered to site in accordance with the project programme
  • Our experienced installation team carried out the full mechanical installation and assembly of the Picket Fence Thickener and Rectangular Scraper System
  • Following installation, comprehensive testing and commissioning activities were undertaken to verify the performance and functionality of all equipment. This included mechanical inspections, operational testing, equipment calibration, and system performance checks to ensure compliance with design criteria and client requirements
  • Once commissioned, the systems underwent performance verification to confirm they were operating as intended under site conditions. This process validated equipment reliability, sludge handling efficiency, and overall treatment performance, ensuring the facility achieved its operational objectives and long-term process improvements.

Outcome

The project was successfully completed on schedule, delivering a fully operational Picket Fence Thickener and Rectangular Scraper System at the Brentwood facility.

Following installation, both systems were thoroughly tested and commissioned to ensure reliable operation and compliance with all project requirements. The new equipment has enhanced sludge thickening and collection processes, contributing to improved treatment efficiency and overall plant performance.

By providing a robust, high-quality solution tailored to the site’s needs, the project has increased operational reliability and supports the long-term effectiveness of the wastewater treatment infrastructure.

The successful delivery of this scheme demonstrates JK Fabrications’ expertise in designing, manufacturing, and installing specialist process equipment for the water and wastewater industry.
